French President Speaks Out Against Netanyahu’s Government

French President Emmanuel Macron openly denounced the Israeli government’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza, labeling it “unacceptable” and “a disgrace,” according to Digi24.

In an interview with France’s TF1 television, Macron clarified that it is not his role to label the actions as genocide, stating instead;

“That is for historians to decide.”

The French leader, who previously visited the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza, described the scene as “one of the worst things I have ever witnessed.”

He criticized Israeli authorities for blocking humanitarian aid from reaching Palestinians, highlighting that assistance sent by France and other countries is being obstructed.

Macron also hinted at a potential reassessment of the European Union’s cooperation agreements with Israel. He reiterated a proposal announced in April, suggesting that France could formally recognize a Palestinian state by June.

“I will do it because I believe at some point it will be the right thing to do,” Macron said. “I also want to contribute to a collective dynamic where those supporting Palestine would, in turn, recognize Israel—a step many have yet to take.”

Macron emphasized that this approach would provide clarity in countering states like Iran, which denies Israel’s right to exist, and would strengthen collective regional security.
