Authorities do a have a theory about what has happened, though.

What is happening?

Containers containing ammunittion and weapons were found in Poland near a village at the Ukrainian border.

The thing is, that the containers do not belong to the Polish military.

Found at airstrip

According to the private broadcaster, TV Republika, the eight containers were found at an airstrip near the village of Laszki – about 100 kilometres from the Ukrainian city of Lviv in Western Ukraine.

They are NOT ours!

“The containers with ammunition and weapons found in the town of Laszki in the Podkarpacie region ARE NOT the property of the Polish Army,” the Polish Defence Ministry said on X.

They added that the appropriate services are securing the place and equipment.

The theory

According to Reuters, Interior Ministry spokesperson Jacek Dobrzynski told reporters he believed the arms in question were anti-aircraft weapons.

They were most likely part of a stock supposed to be delivered to Ukraine by a private company.

A “scandal”

Leaving such weapons without proper supervision, though, is nothing short but a “scandal”, he said.

Since the Russian 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Poland have become a key hub for distribution of military aid to Ukraine.
