Politicians often face scrutiny over their personal lives and habits.
Most controversies fade away quietly.
But sometimes an old record surfaces that leaves voters completely speechless.
A very unusual menu
Health Secretary nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is facing fresh scrutiny. A forgotten blog post from 2001 has resurfaced online. It was originally published by the environmental portal Ecomall and cited by the Irish Star.
He used the piece to discuss sustainable eating. But the specific details of his diet quickly overpowered the environmental message. His list of consumed meats is staggering.
He wrote in the post: “I’ve eaten all kinds of insects and nematodes, caterpillars, snakes, frogs, alligators, terrapins, sea urchins, octopus, birds eggs, a mouse (by mistake), wild game including armadillo, wildebeest, warthog, coons and capybara, and some domestic animals including horse, dog and guinea pig,”
Roadkill and family dinners
The confessions did not stop at wild game. He went on to describe a deep appreciation for organ meats and animals found dead by the side of the road.
The politician added: “I have eaten road kill and I’m fond of viscera; tripe, tongue, brain and offal and sweet meats and pate, kidney pie, sheep’s eyes and even airline food. Ironically, bad example has been the professor of good ethics; my son is a vegetarian and can hardly bear to sit with me at meals,”
These dietary claims have raised fresh eyebrows. He previously denied eating dog meat abroad, claiming it was actually goat. Now his own written words contradict that defense.
A disturbing pattern
His cousin Caroline Kennedy recently submitted a formal letter opposing his government nomination. Her statement included deeply unsettling memories from their youth.
She claimed her cousin “enjoyed showing off how he put baby chickens and mice in a blender to feed to his hawks,” according to the Irish Star. This adds to a growing list of bizarre encounters.
He recently admitted to grabbing a dead bear cub and dumping it in Central Park years ago. He told actress Roseanne Barr that he staged the scene to look like a bicycle accident. Kennedy laughed about the prank on video. He told Barr, “I was worried because my prints were all over that bike,”
From strapping a dead whale head to a minivan to eating accidental mice, his history with wildlife is vast. It continues to draw intense fascination as he starts his new role.
