Rod Stewart speaks out after emergency heart operation changes everything.
Rod Stewart has been forced to put his career on hold after undergoing an emergency heart procedure, prompting the 81-year-old music icon to cancel the remaining dates on his One Last Time tour.
Following days of speculation surrounding a last-minute concert cancellation, representatives for the British singer have now confirmed that he recently underwent surgery to have a heart stent inserted.
Questions first emerged after Stewart pulled out of a scheduled performance in Cincinnati at short notice, with organizers citing the need for urgent medical treatment.
According to PEOPLE, the unexpected hospital stay has now led to the cancellation of all upcoming concerts, including six planned shows in Las Vegas later this month.
Representatives say the procedure was successful and that the singer is already recovering well.
“Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities,” a spokesperson said.
Doctors order weeks of rest
Although Stewart has resumed everyday life, his medical team has advised him to stay away from the physically demanding pace of touring.
“At the recommendation of his doctors, he will spend the next four weeks recovering and regaining his full strength before returning to the stage. This unfortunately means he will be unable to complete his current tour dates,” the spokesperson added.
Stewart also released a statement expressing gratitude to those who cared for him during the health scare while acknowledging his disappointment over the canceled performances.
“I would like to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me. I am deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a party with all of you again soon.”
Latest development marks another interruption to Stewart’s schedule in 2026.
Earlier this year, the rock veteran was also forced to postpone several performances after suffering from a persistent respiratory infection and inflammation of his larynx.
For now, Stewart’s focus is on recovery before returning to live audiences later this year.
