Recently, Reuters reported that Vladimir Putin was expected to run in Russia's 2024 presidential election. However, a recent statement from Dmitry Peskov, Putin's spokesperson, has cast doubt on these assumptions, indicating that Putin's candidacy is not yet decided.

According to Sarajevo Times, Peskov's remarks came as a surprise to many who had presumed Putin's participation in the upcoming election was a foregone conclusion.

"It is quite clear that this topic is now increasingly attracting the attention of political experts, but so far no decision has been made in this regard. It is understandable that the time of announcing the election is approaching, but for now there are no decisions in this regard. You will be informed as soon as they are" Peskov states.

Peskov emphasized that no decision has been made regarding Putin's candidacy for the presidential elections. This statement contradicts earlier speculations and reports suggesting Putin's continued leadership was almost certain.

The upcoming Russian election is scheduled to take place in March 2024. Therefore, there are no more than four months left until Russians head to the polls.

As of this writing, we still do not know whether the election will include Vladimir Putin's name on the ballot or not.
