A 16-year-old from Dagestan has been arrested in Chelyabinsk, Russia, for an attempted sabotage act on a Russian Armed Forces' facility. The incident involved an attempt to set a Su-34 bomber plane on fire at the Shagol military airfield, as reported by the local news outlet 74.ru.

The fire, which broke out on the military aircraft, was quickly extinguished by the authorities. The arrest of the teenager was made by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) officers on January 5. The FSB claims that the sabotage attempt was orchestrated under the direction of Ukrainian special services.

During the arrest, the FSB reportedly confiscated communication devices and data carriers from the teenager, which allegedly contained photographic evidence and correspondence with Ukrainian contacts.

Furthermore, the FSB disclosed that their investigation revealed the teenager's involvement in previous arson attacks targeting communication facilities and railway infrastructure in Dagestan, which occurred in November and December 2023.

This arrest follows a statement on January 4 from Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), which reported a fire incident involving a Su-34 bomber at the same airfield in Chelyabinsk. The ongoing investigation seeks to unravel the full extent of the teenager's alleged activities and connections with Ukrainian entities.
