With Washington openly asserting its power, attention is turning to where President Donald Trump could apply pressure next.

Comments from Trump and senior officials, alongside references to US strategy documents, have fuelled speculation about which countries may now be in Washington’s sights.

Mexico

Mexico has already faced pressure from Trump over trade, migration and drug trafficking.

He has said the US will “have to do something” about powerful drug cartels.

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum has rejected any suggestion of US military operations on Mexican soil, insisting that sovereignty will be defended.

Cuba

Cuba has long been a rival of the United States and remains under heavy US sanctions.

According to the Daily Express, Trump said the US did not need to attack Cuba because its government was “ready to fall” after losing vital oil supplies from Venezuela.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed the warning tone, saying that when the president speaks, “you should take him seriously”.

Cuban authorities have not indicated any willingness to accept US demands.

Greenland

Trump has repeatedly voiced interest in Greenland, an autonomous territory governed by Denmark. He has argued that the island is critical to US national security.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said the US “needs Greenland from the standpoint of national security”, citing alleged Russian and Chinese activity.

Denmark and Greenland’s government have firmly rejected any suggestion of a takeover.

Colombia

Colombia has been drawn into the spotlight after Trump accused its leadership of involvement in the drug trade.

He publicly told President Gustavo Petro to “watch his ass”.

Trump described Colombia as being “run by a sick man who likes making cocaine and selling it to the United States”.

Petro has rejected the claims and warned against any US military action.

Iran

Iran remains under intense US scrutiny following previous strikes on suspected nuclear facilities. Recent protests inside the country have added to tensions.

Trump warned that if Iranian authorities “start killing people like they have in the past”, they would be “hit very hard by the United States”.

He added that US forces were “locked and loaded”, according to the Daily Express.
