Even when two people spend decades together, certain routines can still test a partner’s patience. That dynamic gets even more complicated when those habits play out in front of millions of people, reports UNILAD.
Not presidential
During a speech in Las Vegas, Donald Trump revealed that his wife Melania continues to criticize some of his most famous rally routines. He shared lighthearted details about their domestic conversations.
Speaking to the crowd, Trump admitted that his wife dislikes his physical imitations on stage. He demonstrated his signature gestures while recounting her direct reaction to his stage performances.
“She hates it when I imitate no men in women’s sports,” he told the crowd, according to UNILAD. He added, “She hates it when I do ‘the weightlifter,'” as he mimicked the gesture on stage.
Trump explained that he dismissed her concerns by pointing to his political success. He recalled telling his wife, “Well it may not be Presidential, but I won the election in a land slide, so I don’t know.”
Rally dance routine
The disagreement extends to his signature rally dance, which has been a staple of his public appearances since the 2020 campaign. Trump described his wife’s insistence on a formal demeanor.
“She hates when I dance. I said, ‘Everybody want me to dance,'” Trump told the audience, according to UNILAD. He noted that Melania hit back by telling him, “Darling, it’s not Presidential.”
When Trump argued that audience members enjoy the performance, Melania countered that supporters were “just being nice” to her husband. Still, he refuses to drop the routine.
Rhythm and resistance
The famous moves originally gained popularity during his 2020 campaign rallies, accompanied by the Village People hit song YMCA. Yet playing the anthem created unexpected friction with the band.
The late Victor Willis previously revealed that the group requested he stop using the song. “I don’t endorse Trump. I’ve never endorsed Trump, nor has the Village People,” Willis told UNILAD, adding, “We have even asked him to stop playing our music at his rallies.”
Despite copyright rules allowing the music, Melania remains unimpressed with the spectacle. Regardless of her feedback, Trump shows no intention of retiring his famous moves anytime soon.
