Trump reveals Melania’s reaction to White House makeover

Donald Trump revealed that First Lady Melania Trump was unhappy with one of the changes he made to the White House grounds as he showcased renovations during a private dinner event.

The Daily Beast reported that the president spoke about the makeover project while addressing guests at a Rose Garden Club dinner on Monday evening.

“What did you do?”

According to Trump, Melania questioned his decision to replace part of the lawn near the Rose Garden with a stone patio.

“I took a little heat from my wife,” Trump told guests.

“She said, ‘Darling, what did you do with my grass?’”

The president explained that the grassy area often became muddy because of the wet ground surrounding the White House.

Complaints about mud

Trump said the renovation was partly aimed at improving conditions for reporters and visitors attending outdoor events.

“The grass was always soaking wet,” he said, according to The Daily Beast.

He claimed journalists, especially female reporters, disliked walking through muddy conditions during press conferences.

Trump added that black granite stone had now been installed in the area as part of the redesign.

White House renovations continue

The Daily Beast reported that Trump has overseen several changes to the White House since returning to office.

Among them are new gold decorations inside the Oval Office, alterations to historic garden areas and plans for a large ballroom extension near the East Wing.

Trump described the planned ballroom as “the most beautiful ballroom anywhere in the world.”

Melania warns Trump

During the speech, Trump also joked that Melania had warned him not to use inappropriate language while speaking publicly.

“I was told by my wife, ‘You have to act presidential, so don’t use foul language,’” he said.

The Daily Beast noted that Trump later referred to the White House as a “s— house” before immediately correcting himself and saying he would avoid using the phrase.

The president also discussed new security features being added to the White House grounds, including reinforced glass structures and upgraded walkways.
