What is happening?
It’s afe to say that the alliance between Donald Trump and Elon Musk is stone dead after the two got into a very public fight on Social Media.
Musk’s criticism, Trump’s respond
It all started with Musk voicing his displeasure with Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, which then prompted Trump to retaliate by calling Musk “crazy” and threatening to cancel Musk’s Government Subsidies and Contracts.
The big bomb
The height of the fight so far was when Musk took to X to claim that Donald Trump is mentioned in The Epstein Files.
But so far, Trump has drawn the longest straw between the two.
How Trump has used Musk
Musk was put in charge of the DOGE-department to make a number of unpopular cutbacks in US federal spending.
They are essential to Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill.
Trump has gone under the radar
But by using Musk to make the cutbacks, Trump has been able to keep clean and go under the radar, focusing on other things.
This way, Musk has become the face of the unpopular cutbacks, while Trump is trying to reap the benifits.
Musk is a powerful enemy
Trump needs to be careful, though.
Musk was, by far, the biggest donor of Trumps presidential campaign, and he has shown not be afraid of using huge amounts of money to achieve his goals.
The Midterms are coming
If the relationship between the two deteriorates even further, Musk could choose to back Trumps political opponents at the Midterms next year, potentially losing Trump the majority in at least one chamber of Congress if not both.
