Is Beijing using the war in Ukraine to wage a proxy war against the West?

What is happening?

A top Ukrainian intelligence official claims China is helping Russia launch missile attacks by providing satellite reconnaissance.

Oleh Aleksandrov from Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Agency told Ukrinform that China is supplying Moscow with detailed imagery to identify targets across Ukraine.

Surveillance focuses on strategic and foreign-linked sites

According to Aleksandrov, the intelligence shared by China zeroes in on key infrastructure, including facilities backed by international investors.

“There is evidence of a high level of cooperation between Russia and China,” he said, “to identify and further explore strategic objects for targeting.”

Zelenskiy: China supplying arms to Moscow

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has previously warned of deeper Chinese involvement.

And Beijing is likely to try and capitalize on the economic uncertainty.

Chinese mercenaries in Ukraine?

Even though Beijing claims to be neutral in the Russo-Ukraine war, Ukraine has repeatedly accussed Beijing of helping Russia.

First of all, China is one of the biggest buyers of Russian oil, which helps funding the Russian war machine.

Additionally, China has been accussed of trading dual-use technology with Russia, and Ukrainian President Volodomy Zelensky has even claimed that Chinese mercenaries are fighting on the side of Russia in Ukraine.
