Volodymyr Zelensky praised Romania’s investigation into the Galați drone incident, saying the evidence proves the drone was Russian-made and counters Kremlin disinformation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has welcomed Romania’s presentation of evidence indicating that the drone which struck a residential building in Galați was Russian-made.
The comments came after Romanian authorities released images and technical findings from their investigation into the incident.
Zelensky responds
According to Digi24, Zelensky reacted after Romanian President Nicușor Dan publicly presented photographs and technical data linked to the drone.
“Thank you for the clarity, dear Nicușor Dan. Facts are the best cure for Putin’s lies and demonstrate that Russia’s manipulations do not hold up,” Zelensky wrote on X.
The Ukrainian leader said the findings helped counter what he described as Russian disinformation surrounding the incident.
His remarks followed Romania’s announcement that the drone was of Russian origin.
Call for cooperation
Zelensky also stressed the importance of continued cooperation between Ukraine and its allies.
According to Digi24, he said Kyiv is prepared to work closely with partners to address shared security threats.
“Ukraine is ready to collaborate closely to counter common threats and strengthen the protection of life, not only for our country, but also for friendly Romania and the rest of Europe,” he stated.
The comments underline growing security concerns among countries bordering the war zone.
Romanian findings
President Nicușor Dan presented images showing fragments of the drone, including identifying markings and inscriptions.
According to Digi24, he said the evidence leaves no doubt that the drone was manufactured in Russia.
Romania plans to share the technical report and its conclusions with NATO and European Union institutions.
Dan also stated that Romania would not ignore incidents that endanger its citizens.
NATO notified
Romania’s Ministry of Defence later released additional details from the technical analysis.
According to Digi24, officials concluded that the aircraft was a Russian-made kamikaze drone.
The incident has drawn attention from NATO allies after the drone struck a residential building in Galați during a Russian attack on Ukraine.
