During a press conference with the President of Finland in Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a startling revelation regarding Russia's military plans. According to Zelenskyy, Russia is gearing up to mobilize an additional 300,000 troops starting June 1, in a move that could significantly escalate tensions and the ongoing conflict in the region.

A Calculated Response

In response to inquiries about the Ukrainian military's recruitment plans, President Zelenskyy assured that Ukraine does not aim to match the numbers reportedly being mobilized by Russia.

"We don't need half a million," Zelenskyy stated. The exact number of individuals to be mobilized into the Ukrainian army remains unspecified.

Russia's Military Movements

The announcement comes on the heels of recent developments in Russia, where a decree published on March 31 outlined the spring draft, expecting to recruit an additional 150,000 Russians.

Furthermore, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that over 100,000 individuals have joined the ranks of the military service under contract since the beginning of the year. These figures indicate a significant bolstering of Russian military forces, raising concerns about the potential intensification of the conflict.
