The former President has given his first interview since leaving the White House – and he is not impressed by how the Trump Administration is doing.
Silent since leaving

The former U.S. President, Joe Biden, has not said much publically since leaving the White House. But now, the former President has sat down with BBC to talk about him dropping out of the Presidential Race, and how the Trump Administration is doing in his eyes – and Biden was unusually candid.
Beneath America

The former President seemed downright angry with how Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, was treated during the infamous meeting in The White House. “I found it beneath America, the way it took place,” Biden said.
“What the hell is going on here?”

He then went on to talk about how Trump has renamed the “Gulf of Mexico” to the “Gulf of America”, talking about taking Panama, acquiring Greenland and making Canada the 51st state. Biden simply summed up all of these things with: “What the hell’s going on here? Whet President ever talks like that?”

Concerns about international reputation

There is a lot going on domestically in the U.S., but Biden seemed more concerned about how the U.S. will be viewed internationally in the future. He expressed grave concerns about the Atlantic Alliance and fears that the death of the Alliance would change the moderne history of the world.
Allies will doubt the U.S.

The pledge of NATO (the Atlantic Alliance) is to defend “each and every inch” of NATO-territory with the full collective force of the Alliance. The Trump Administration, however, have complained about the other members of the Alliance, saying that the U.S. is ribbing off the U.S.. Biden fears that rethoric will make allies of the U.S. doubt whether the U.S. is to trust in case of an attack.
Leaders of the Free World no more?

If Europe lose confidence in the Alliance with the U.S., Biden fear it will spread to doubting the U.S. role as Leaders of the Free World. If that role goes away, it will make it harder for the U.S. to act in international matters, not only regarding war, but others as well.
On leaving the Presidential Race

Biden left the White House at the age of 82, and during his term as President, his age was subject to a lot of scrutiny. Biden ended up leaving the Presidential Race to let Kamala Harris run instead, and talking to BBC, Biden does not think him leaving the race earlier would have made a difference on Election Day.
Trump “not behaving like a Republican president”

The word unprecedentet might be the most used English word since Trump took over the White House, even during his first term. He is known and feared for his not-very-diplomatic approach to Politics and Diplomacy, and Biden simply does not think Trump is behaving like a Republican president, stating that instead of expanding dmeocracy around the world, Trump’s action means democracy is receding.
Putin is not going to stop

The Russia-Ukraine war is in its fourth year, and the Trump Administration has tried to broker af peace deal between the fighting countries – unsuccesfully. In the interview, Biden calls Trump’s approach to Putin “modern day appeasement”, adding that anyone thinking Putin is going to stop is foolish.
Every generation has to fight

Biden finished the interview stating that every generation as to fight to maintain democracy, and the West has done this for 80 Years now – and Biden fear there’s a loss of understadning of the consequences of what is happening in the World right now.
