Poll reveals Britons’ verdict on King Charles’s handling of Prince Andrew crisis
London, England - 23.09.2025: BRITISH ROYALS CRISIS: PRINCE ANDREW AND SARAH FERGUSON The British Royal Family's crisis appears to get from bad to worse. Revelations of the involvement between the British Royals and the paedophile American financier Jeffrey Epstein does not go away. Following Prince Andrew's close association with Epstein, e-mails have now exposed his former wife Sarah Ferguson, The Duchess of York's relationship with the American serial child sex offender. They revealed that she had cynically lied about her association with him. The emails showed that only weeks after publicly disowning the vile billionaire in 2011, she wrote him a gushing private message calling him a 'steadfast, generous and supreme friend'. She also admitted that she only distanced herself from him to save her own reputation. Sarah's connection to Jeffrey Epstein stems from the payment of a debt owed by Sarah. In 2010, as Sarah was almost £5million in debt and facing bankruptcy for the second time, Epstein, in a deal orchestrated by Prince Andrew, agreed to fund a £15, 000 pay-off to her then personal assistant for unpaid wages and bills. In further humililation seven charities have publicly cut ties with The Duchess over the damning revelations. Prince Andrew and Sarh Ferguson were last seen together when they joined King Charles and other members of the British Royal Family, as well as friends and family to remember Katharine, the Duchess of Kent, at the funeral service held at Westminster Cathedral in London. The Duchess of Kent who was the oldest member of the British Royal Family died earlier this month aged 92. The service presided by Cardinal Vincent Nichols was the first Catholic Funeral for a member of the royal family in modern times. This is yet another matter for King Charles who appears to be losing patience with William, to contend with. It is to be seen whether the return of the prodigal son Prince Harry will help ease the burden. Picture shows: Prince Andr

Prince Andrew has remained a subject of public scrutiny in recent years because of his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Mixed public reaction

According to a YouGov survey conducted on October 28 among 4,223 adults, 40 percent of respondents believe the King has managed the situation either “very well” or “fairly well.”

Another 32 percent said he has handled it “fairly badly” or “very badly,” while 28 percent were undecided.

The poll comes after reports that Andrew, 65, has agreed to surrender his remaining titles and honours linked to his royal status.

The King, who is also undergoing cancer treatment, is facing mounting calls to remove his brother from the 30-room Royal Lodge mansion in Windsor.

Andrew and his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, both live at Royal Lodge.

Reports suggest they have agreed to leave the property, but only if they are provided with two separate homes.

Andrew is reportedly considering Frogmore Cottage, the former UK residence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, while Sarah is said to favour another Windsor estate.

Royal commentators have urged the King not to agree to such terms. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror:

“I think it would be a serious mistake if the King and the Palace agreed to such a brazen demand. You have to ask yourself whether Andrew and Sarah are completely deaf to public opinion.”

Balancing public pressure

The King’s handling of the matter has been widely discussed as he seeks to maintain public confidence while addressing the fallout from Prince Andrew’s long-standing association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The scandal continues to shadow the Royal Family despite efforts to limit Andrew’s public role since his 2019 withdrawal from royal duties.

Public debate has also been fuelled by speculation about the Duke’s future residence and finances.

Royal observers say the issue poses a delicate challenge for the monarch, who must balance compassion for his brother with the need to uphold the family’s public image.

Royal opinion divided

While the Palace has not issued an official statement on the reported housing dispute, royal sources have hinted at growing frustration within the family.

Princess Anne is said to be concerned about Andrew’s wellbeing, while other senior royals reportedly favour a clear separation between his private life and official royal affairs.

For now, the King remains focused on preserving the stability of the monarchy during a period of personal and public scrutiny.
