Prince William may have one of the most recognizable jobs in the world, but his commute to work is unexpectedly down-to-earth.
In a recent episode of Apple TV’s The Reluctant Traveler, actor Eugene Levy met the Prince of Wales on the grounds of Windsor Castle, and was instantly caught off guard when William rolled up on an electric scooter.
“This is not what I was expecting,” Levy said with a laugh. “This is your mode of transportation?”
“It is ’round here,” William replied, smiling.
The 43-year-old royal explained that although he and Princess Kate live just outside the castle at Adelaide Cottage, his work meetings often take place inside.

“We use the castle for work and meetings. And I’m always late, so I thought this was the way to keep my meetings on time.”
Then, with a grin, William added: “I’m still regularly late anyway, Eugene.”
A royal ride with a sense of humor
The prince’s scooter reportedly made headlines in July 2024, when he began using it to make the 10-minute ride from his home to the castle.
But even royals can’t escape everyday setbacks — William revealed he had a flat tire that morning, which slowed him down.
“That’s why I was going so slowly up the road,” he said.

The choice of an electric scooter aligns with William’s environmental advocacy, particularly his launch of The Earthshot Prize in 2020.
A royal source previously told The Sun: “He whizzes up to the castle when he needs to see the King. It just makes sense.”
Known for his love of motorcycles, William said in 2018 that he’d had to “tone it down” since becoming a father. Princess Kate once confessed, “It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it.”
