Questions are continuing to grow around Trump Mobile’s long-promised T1 smartphone as customers wait for a device that still has no confirmed launch date.

The project has already generated millions of dollars in deposits, while critics and lawmakers increasingly question how the pre-order process is being handled.

Smartphone launch still uncertain

Launching a new smartphone brand has historically been difficult because of manufacturing costs, supply-chain pressures and intense competition from companies like Apple and Samsung.

Against that backdrop, Trump Mobile’s T1 Phone has faced repeated delays since first being announced in 2025.

According to Mezha, citing Moneywise, the company has continued changing projected launch windows while also revising parts of the phone’s design and marketing.

Millions collected from pre-orders

Reports say around 590,000 customers placed deposits of $100 for the gold-colored smartphone.

That would place total deposits near $59 million despite the device still not reaching buyers.

The phone was originally advertised with a promotional price of $499, although later messaging suggested future pricing could eventually increase.

Refund policy sparks concern

Attention has increasingly shifted toward the company’s updated pre-order terms.

According to the report, Trump Mobile now states that estimated delivery schedules and production timelines are not guaranteed.

The revised language also reportedly says deposits may not automatically qualify for refunds if the phone is never commercially released.

‘Made in America’ claims questioned

The company originally promoted the T1 Phone as being manufactured in the United States.

However, experts later questioned whether large-scale smartphone production in the US was realistic, leading Trump Mobile to scale back some of its earlier messaging.

The company now describes the device as being designed with “American values in mind.”

Political pressure increases

The controversy surrounding the project has also drawn political attention.

According to Mezha, several Democratic lawmakers previously urged the Federal Trade Commission to review the project and determine whether consumer protection concerns existed.

Critics argue customers deserve clearer communication regarding launch expectations, manufacturing claims and refund policies.

Delayed tech launches not uncommon

Industry analysts note that delays are relatively common in consumer technology launches, particularly for entirely new hardware brands attempting to enter crowded markets.

However, they also say prolonged uncertainty surrounding delivery timelines can quickly damage consumer confidence and brand credibility.

Despite the criticism, Trump Mobile maintains that demand for both the smartphone and its wireless service remains strong.
