Tottenham Hotspur’s players are gearing up for a new era under head coach Thomas Frank, with pre-season training at Hotspur Way set to begin in early July. The Dane, who officially took the reins following Ange Postecoglou’s departure, is preparing to meet his full squad for the first time and begin shaping Spurs’ 2025/26 campaign.

Phased Return for Players

The players’ return to pre-season training will take place in stages, starting around the first weekend of July. Football.london reports that initial arrivals will undergo medical tests and assessments before hitting the pitch with Frank and his newly appointed coaching team.

While James Maddison, Radu Dragusin, and other injured players have already been at the training ground for rehabilitation, the wider squad, including players returning from international duty, will filter in during early to mid-July.

Players involved in international tournaments like the U21 and U19 Euros, such as Archie Gray, Mathys Tel, Wilson Odobert, Mikey Moore, and Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny, will be granted extended rest periods after their competitions conclude.

Busy Pre-Season Schedule Ahead

Tottenham’s summer will be packed with matches as the club fine-tunes its preparation under new leadership. The confirmed schedule includes:

  • July 26: Pre-season opener vs. Luton Town
  • July 31: vs. Arsenal in Hong Kong
  • August 3: vs. Newcastle United in South Korea
  • August 7: vs. Bayern Munich in Germany

The fixture against Bayern is especially intriguing, given the potential for a meeting with former Spurs striker Harry Kane, now back from Club World Cup duty.

There may also be one additional friendly added before the Luton game, and behind-closed-doors matches are expected at Hotspur Way to help build sharpness.

UEFA Super Cup and Premier League Opener

Frank’s first official competitive match in charge comes in the UEFA Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain on August 13 in Udine. The match offers an immediate shot at silverware, and a challenging first test against Luis Enrique’s star-studded side.

Due to the tight schedule, there will likely be no traditional home friendly before the new season begins.

Just three days later, Spurs host newly promoted Burnley, now managed by Scott Parker, in the Premier League curtain-raiser at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on August 16.

Thomas Frank’s First Impressions

Although Frank has yet to speak extensively since his appointment, reports indicate he has already begun internal planning with Spurs’ technical director Johan Lange, and has been involved in discussions regarding transfers, including potential moves for Bryan Mbeumo and Mathys Tel.

Key issues on his agenda include:

  • Clarifying Son Heung-min’s future
  • Assessing Cristian Romero’s role and fitness
  • Deciding on summer exits
  • Forming a new tactical identity
