Almost 50 injured when car hit football celebrations – here’s what we know

What is happening?

During celebrations of Liverpool FC winning the Premier League, a car drove into the crowd, injuring almost 50 people.

Where did it happen?

The incident happened in Water Street, downtown Liverpool. According to witnesses on site, the bus with the celebrating players had left the area 5-10 minutes prior to the incident.

Who’s the perpetrator?

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but a local 53-year-old caucasian man has been arrested.

Who are the injured?

Not much have been released about the injured, but according Dave Kitchin of North West Ambulance Service, 20 people were treated at site.

27 was brought to the hospital, and two have sustained serious injuries. One of them is a child.

An isolated incidence

During a press briefing Monday evening GMT, the Police believe that they are dealing with an “isolated incidence”, and that it is not concidered to be a terrorist attack.

What we still don’t know

There have been no information regarding the actual state of the injured.

No possible motive has been released.

It is still unclear how the car entered the area.
