But now he may be looking to do a move that would completely destroy any hope of reconciliating with his father
Wants to change his name
Sources told Daily Mail, that Harry is actively exploring ways to change his family name to Spencer – the surname of his late mother, Diana.
Sought advice
According to the sources, Prince Harry approached Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer, asking for advice on what to do.
Prince Harry is currently using the Mountbatten-Windsor family name, which is also printed on his childrens birth certificates.
Only available to certain individuals
Mountbatten-Windsor is a combination of the Royal Family’s name of Windsor and the Duke of Edinburgh’s adopted surname.
It is available to decendants of the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip.
Legal hurdles to hard
According to the sources, Prince Harry and Earl Spencer discussed the issue during a rare visit to the UK by Harry.
But Spencer alegedly told the Duke of Sussex that the legal hurdles would be too great to overcome, advising against making the move.

Even though it’s been five years since Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, stepped down as Royals, names and titles are stille a sensitive subject for the couple.

Recently, in an episode of her Netflix-show, Meghan insisted that her surname was in fact Sussex.
Harry and Meghan were given the Sussex Titles by Queen Elizabeth II on the day of the couples wedding in 2018.
