Even before returning to The White House, US President Donald Trump made it clear that he would try and broker a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.

At first, he said he could do it in 24 hours, then in 100 days, but to this day, the negotiations has brought nothing with them.

Accussed of favoring Russia

Trump and his administration have been accussed of favoring Russia in an attempt to reach a ceasefire, disregarding Ukrainian demands.

Hegseth pressured

During a Senate hearing in Congress on Wednesday, US Secretary of Defense, Peter Hegseth, came under heavy fire from both Republicans and Democrats.

Will Putin stop?

Republican Senator, Lindsey Graham, directly asked Hegseth and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Caine, if they thought Putin would “stop with Ukraine”.

Caine said, he didn’t think Putin will stop.

Hegseth said that it is still unknown.

So who do the US side with?

Republican Senator, Mitch McConnel, opened the hearing by simply asking Hegseth, which of the parties of the war, the US wants to side with.

Hegseth then replied, that the US is not siding with either Russia or Ukraine – the administration simply wants the bloodshed to end.
