The White House has unveiled its 2025 Christmas décor, and Melania Trump’s latest holiday theme has set off a flurry of reactions online.

The First Lady has shared a behind-the-scenes tour of this year’s transformation.

Holiday tradition revived

The First Lady’s theme, “Home Is Where the Heart Is,” opens with scenes of Melania walking through glittering trees in the Grand Foyer.

In her caption, she wrote, “Wherever we are, we can create a home filled with endless possibilities.”

This is her fifth year shaping the White House holiday look.

While she has opted for bold and sometimes unconventional choices in the past, this year leans heavily toward classic Americana, charity, and gratitude.

More than 25,000 feet of ribbon, 2,800 gold stars, 2,000 strands of lights and 700 feet of garland fill the residence.

Outside, 75 red-bow wreaths line the building.

Gold Star tribute

The Blue Room houses an 18-foot fir decorated with ivory, gold and deep blue.

This year’s tree honors Gold Star families, featuring custom ornaments with each state’s bird and flower.

“The birds represent freedom, hope and courage,” the White House said, “while the flowers symbolize the enduring spirit of Gold Star families.”

Some ornaments were created using AI-assisted designs and 3D printing, combining tradition with modern elements.

Patriotic and playful touches

In the East Room, “America, Our Home” celebrates the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, complete with eagle motifs and 250 stars.

The Red Room features more than 10,000 blue butterflies, a symbol of renewal linked to Melania’s Be Best and Fostering the Future initiatives.

Elsewhere, the décor turns whimsical: game pieces in the Green Room, magnolias and acorns in the State Dining Room, and a massive gingerbread South Portico built from hundreds of pounds of ingredients.

Public reaction

Fans praised the display as “an actual traditional Christmas” and “what the people’s house should look like.”

The butterfly tree drew particular admiration. Others chimed in with light-hearted jokes or questions about religious elements.

Her earlier Dior coat, plaid stilettos and red gloves — worn during the tree’s arrival — also drew mixed but lively commentary online.
