Although he holds no formal position in the administration, his public appearances routinely attract attention, with supporters viewing him as a voice for the president’s base.
His latest intervention came at a conference in the Middle East, where he offered some of his strongest remarks yet on Ukraine and US foreign policy.
Fierce criticism of Ukraine
According to The Guardian, Trump Jr suggested that President Donald Trump could withdraw support for Ukraine altogether.
He argued that Ukraine’s wealthy elite had fled the country and said the United States would “no longer be the idiot with the checkbook.”
He went on to claim that President Volodymyr Zelensky was extending the conflict because “he would never win the election if it ended.”

Trump Jr added that Zelensky had become “almost a deity for the left” but insisted that Ukraine was “far more corrupt than Russia.”
His remarks reflect long standing discomfort among some Trump allies toward Kyiv, particularly as Washington continues to debate future military and financial assistance.
Attacks on the EU
Trump Jr also targeted the European Union’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, criticising European sanctions and arguing that the measures had only raised global oil prices.
He said this had allowed Moscow to increase revenue and continue funding its war effort.
He dismissed Europe’s approach as little more than “waiting for Russia to go bankrupt” and said this was “not a plan.”

Claims about Ukrainian elites
During the discussion, Trump Jr said he believed the American public did not view Ukraine as a top concern, noting that he met only “three people” during his 2022 campaign who saw the war as a major issue.
He argued that threats such as drug trafficking from Venezuela posed a clearer danger.
He also claimed, without evidence, that he observed large numbers of luxury cars with Ukrainian license plates in Monaco.
He suggested this was proof that wealthy Ukrainians had escaped the conflict and left “the lower class to fight these wars.”
Possible shift in US support
When asked whether his father might step away from involvement in the conflict, Trump Jr replied that it was possible, calling the president “one of the most unpredictable people in politics.”
