He warns the presiden that things will only get worse

When leaders lock themselves into a long conflict, the exit doors slowly close.

One president just slammed a major door shut, and his rivals are promising a heavy price.

A closed door

The Ukrainian government says the Russian president has missed his ultimate exit strategy. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha issued a stark warning after Vladimir Putin ignored a direct proposal to end the fighting.

The diplomatic snub happened just before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in London on Sunday. He traveled there to meet with top British, German, and French officials about military support, according to the Daily Express.

Sybiha made it clear that the Kremlin will soon regret ignoring the peace offer.

“By refusing President Zelensky’s offer for direct peace talks, Putin lost his chance to get out of his failed war,” Sybiha said.

Mounting pressure

The foreign minister painted a grim picture of Russia’s economic future. He warned that the country will sink deeper into a recession, bringing massive job losses and soaring inflation.

“Things will only get worse for Russia. Battlefield losses will continue to grow. Failures will get more humiliating,” Sybiha noted.

He also pointed out that Ukrainian weapons can now reach deep inside Russian territory. He claimed the Russian leader was sacrificing his entire country to feed his own ego.

“All of this because the fanatic in the Kremlin wants to keep in power at any cost and is ready to sacrifice his country’s future and kill millions of people for his insane delusions,” Sybiha argued.

The open letter

The diplomatic tension follows a bold move from the Ukrainian president. Zelensky published an open letter asking for a face-to-face meeting, which Putin completely dismissed.

In his message, Zelensky reminded Putin that Ukrainian drones recently struck targets more than a thousand kilometers away in St. Petersburg. He warned that those strikes are just the beginning.

“You have spent nearly half of your 26 years in power in Russia waging war against Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote.

The Ukrainian leader ended his letter with a historical warning. “It is a fact of Russian history that you know well: when Russia grows tired, change comes. We can work toward that fatigue. You can stop your war,” Zelensky stated.
