The Russian government is taking away satellite dishes and giving people new ones that only show Russian channels.

The “Russkiy Mir” TV Plan

The project is called “Russkiy Mir,” which means “Russian World.” It began in 2022.

The goal is to make sure people in occupied areas only watch Russian news and shows.

The Kremlin wants to change the way people think by showing them only its own version of the truth.

Ukrainian Antennas Confiscated

According to Ukraine’s Resistance Center, more than 1,000 satellite dishes that could show Ukrainian TV were taken away in just one week.

The Russian government is trying to remove all access to independent or local news. They want full control of the media.

What’s on the Russian Channels

The “Russkiy Mir” package includes 20 main Russian news channels, 10 local channels for the occupied areas, and 11 entertainment channels.

Even children’s shows are included. But all the content is controlled by the Kremlin and used to push Russian ideas.

People Don’t Want Russian TV

Even though it’s risky, many people are refusing to accept the Russian dishes. They do not want to watch Russian propaganda.

The resistance to this plan is strong, and some people are hiding their Ukrainian antennas or refusing the Russian replacements.

Russia Tries to Make It Easy

In the Kherson region, Russia-backed officials are offering people free replacements for their dishes.

This program runs from July to November. But many people are not taking the offer. They don’t want to be part of the propaganda plan.

Ukrainian TV Is Banned by Law

In February, the Russian-appointed leader of Kherson signed a law that bans Ukrainian TV. He called it “enemy propaganda.”

This means people are not allowed to watch any Ukrainian news, and doing so could get them in trouble.

House Inspections and Threats

People in occupied areas say their homes are being inspected. If they have dishes that can pick up Ukrainian TV, they may be fined or have the equipment taken away.

In some cases, people are threatened or forced to take the dishes down themselves.

Thousands of Russian Dishes Installed

Russian officials say they installed 25,000 of the new “Russkiy Mir” dishes in Kherson over two years.

But some reports say that many of these dishes are not being used. People are quietly resisting by keeping their old antennas or turning off the TV.
