A devastating missile attack on Dnipro and surrounding areas leaves dozens dead and hundreds injured.

On June 24, 2025, a rare daytime Russian missile strike targeted the Ukrainian city of Dnipro and the nearby town of Samarske, resulting in at least 21 fatalities and over 300 injuries, according to Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Governor Serhii Lysak.
The assault inflicted significant damage on civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, educational institutions, and medical facilities.
A passenger train traveling from Odesa to Zaporizhzhia was also affected; while no fatalities occurred on the train, several passengers sustained injuries from shattered glass caused by the blast wave.
In Samarske, two individuals were killed, and 14 others were injured, with eight hospitalized, half of whom are in critical condition.

Widespread Destruction
The missile strikes caused extensive damage across Dnipro, affecting 19 schools, 10 kindergartens, a vocational school, a music school, eight medical facilities, and numerous residential buildings.
Governor Lysak described the scene as having “dead and wounded everywhere,” highlighting the severity of the attack.
In response to the tragedy, June 25 was declared a day of mourning throughout the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The attack coincided with a NATO summit in The Hague, where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed for increased military support and stronger sanctions against Russia.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha emphasized the need for allies to step up pressure on Moscow, stating, “It is a matter of credibility for allies to step up pressure on Moscow.”
