The Ukrainian offensive is part of a larger strategy of making territorial progress in the Kharkiv region.
East of the city of Kupiansk, Ukrainian forces recently landed a heavy blow against entrenched Russian positions.
Drone operators systematically hunted down and dismantled military dugouts across the active front line.
The strikes were ruthless.
No place to hide for Russian soldiers
The targeted engineering structures allowed invading troops to gather safely out of sight. According to the 77th Separate Airmobile Naddniprianska Brigade, the operation wiped out more than a hundred frontline shelters in one coordinated push.
Specialized units from the brigade’s 3rd Airmobile Battalion spearheaded the aerial assault. Their precise strikes stripped away vital Russian military cover along the Kharkiv region front.
“The main result of the combat operation was the destruction of 114 enemy shelters. The loss of such a number of prepared positions disrupts the occupiers’ logistics and significantly complicates the covert concentration of infantry,” the brigade said.
Exposed to the drones
Lacking the necessary cover, soldiers must move far more often. That constant movement makes them sitting targets for airstrikes from above. Without the shelters, there is nowhere to hide.
Ukrainian military leaders emphasized that keeping opposing forces on the move actively weakens the enemy’s ability to launch fresh offensives. “Strikes on fortifications force the enemy to constantly relocate, which significantly reduces its offensive potential,” the brigade added.
Moscow has repeatedly tried to advance toward Kupiansk to build new strongholds. Regardless, Ukrainian troops have blunted those efforts by deploying agile drones directly over key supply routes and staging areas.
Gains near Kharkiv
The aerial push comes alongside other measurable tactical progress in the surrounding Kharkiv territory. The Institute for the Study of War reported that geolocated footage showed Ukrainian troops advancing southwest of Dvorichna, just north of Kupiansk.
By combining sharp reconnaissance with relentless drone strikes, Ukrainian forces continue to squeeze adversary logistics.
Strip away the cover, and fortified positions will turn into dangerous traps.
