In a unique incident in Stenlille, southern Denmark, a car was destroyed, and a nearby house was damaged after a driver used a toaster to warm up the battery of their electric vehicle (EV).

This unconventional method, employed by the car owner who placed a toaster under the front of the car to keep the battery warm, likely sparked a fire.

Danish police, in response to this event, have issued a warning to drivers against using toasters or similar devices to warm up EV batteries.

They emphasized the sensitivity of EV batteries to temperature variations, which can negatively impact their efficiency, particularly in colder conditions.

The incident, which occurred in a carport attached to a house about 40 miles southwest of Copenhagen, fortunately resulted in no injuries.

However, the car, of which the make is unknown, suffered extensive damage. It's also unclear if the damaged house belonged to the car owner or a neighbor.

Following this event, the car’s owner may face a fine due to the unconventional and ultimately destructive attempt to heat the EV batteries
