Stepping out into the world as a young adult is supposed to be an exciting time of self-discovery.
For most people, heading off to university means moving into a lively dormitory, making late-night food runs, and building a close circle of lifelong companions.
But when your family home happens to be the most famous house in the country, the typical student experience can easily slip out of reach.
Life under watch
The youngest son of the first family has just crossed a major academic milestone. He recently wrapped up his second full year of higher education, but his daily routine looks nothing like that of his peers.
According to a report from Newsner, the 20-year-old student has spent his university days under an intense security microscope. Teams of Secret Service agents constantly shadow his movements across campus and drive him to and from his daily classes.
The heavy security presence has created a massive social barrier between the young man and his classmates. Other students have expressed sympathy for his isolated situation, noting that he did not choose to live under such a restrictive spotlight.
Gaming for friendship
Making authentic connections has proven to be incredibly difficult. To bypass the armed guards, the teenager has reportedly tried to bond with classmates by turning to online video games.
TMZ reported that he has invited peers to connect on Discord, a popular digital chat and gaming platform. As a massive sports fan, he regularly spends his free time playing EA Sports FC 25 with people he meets at school.
His mother openly acknowledged these struggles during a television appearance on Fox and Friends. She made it clear that her son could never hope to blend in with the crowd.
“I don’t think it’s possible for him to be a normal student. His experience at college it’s very different than any other kid,” she explained to the hosts. “He’s very strong and he knows that he’s in a different position than other children.”
A ghostly presence
After starting his journey at a business school in New York City, he eventually transferred to a campus in Washington, D.C., when his parents returned to the White House. The specialized capital branch allows him to live at home while pursuing a fast-track degree.
Still, the decision to remain under his parents’ roof has sparked heavy debate online. Per OK! Magazine, critics on social media have urged the family to give the young man more space to experience real life.
Insiders claim the isolating lifestyle has left a strange impression on the rest of the student body. Classmates have noticed that he remains deeply detached from the standard social scene.
According to a source cited by OK! Magazine, his campus presence has become almost ghostly. He attends his lectures and vanishes immediately, and he never hands out his phone number to new acquaintances the way other undergraduates do.
