Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, may have built her legacy in New York and Washington, but according to a former boyfriend, her dream life once looked very different.
In a recent interview with ABC News, Jure Zorcic, who dated Melania in the early 1990s in Slovenia, revealed new insights into her early years.
Zorcic recalled meeting Melania “like in a movie.”
He was on a motorbike, and she was walking.
“She was very nicely dressed, and her behavior was classy,” he said. “She had long hair across her face — I could hardly see her eyes — such style!”

The two dated when Melania was beginning her modeling career, and Zorcic said that while she was eager to live abroad, America was not part of her plan.
“She wanted to live abroad, in Italy, France, a life of fashion,” Zorcic said. “A future in the U.S. was very far from our minds at that time.”
A career twist that changed everything
Melania eventually did move. First to Milan and Paris, and then to New York City, where her modeling career expanded.
Zorcic said he was surprised when she told him she had accepted an offer for a hair care campaign in the U.S.
The two reconnected briefly in 2000, but Zorcic said something had changed. Melania, now accustomed to American life, chose to speak English, even when they were alone.

“Did you forget that you are Slovenian?” he recalled asking her.
Zorcic said no one — not even Melania — could have predicted that she would one day live on Fifth Avenue, married to Donald Trump, and eventually reside in the White House.
“Nobody believed 20 years ago that she would live at the top of the world,” he said. “Even her!”
