Russia is reportedly offering China critical military technology, including submarine and missile expertise, in exchange for support in the war against Ukraine, reports Newsweek.

This is drawing strong reactions from the U.S., according to U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell. This marks the first direct accusation of Beijing aiding Moscow’s military efforts.

Speaking in Brussels after a NATO visit, Campbell noted that China is supplying Russia with key components vital to its aggression against Ukraine.

He emphasized that these supplies are no longer limited to dual-use technologies (for civilian and military purposes) but are directly contributing to Russia’s war machine.

This shift signals a growing collaboration between the two nations

With Russia struggling under international sanctions and its capacity to produce military equipment eroded, China’s involvement has become crucial.

Both governments are reportedly concealing the full extent of their partnership to avoid further sanctions.

For months, U.S. officials have expressed concern about potential Chinese support for Russia.

Despite ongoing discussions between U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Washington claims that Beijing has not withdrawn its assistance.

China, however, denies these allegations, asserting neutrality in the conflict.

In return for its support, China is receiving Russian help in developing advanced technologies for submarines, aviation, and missiles.

This cooperation represents a significant shift, as Russia had previously been cautious about sharing military expertise with China, fearing it could create a powerful rival in its neighbor.
