Donald Trump’s renewed talk of taking Greenland has triggered a sharp response abroad.

Russian officials are now framing the dispute as more than territorial politics, warning it could reshape nuclear risk.
The latest comments revive old fears about military escalation in the far north.
Trump’s Greenland threat
Trump has repeatedly said he wants Greenland, arguing it is vital “for national security and international security”.
He said last week: “Countries have to have ownership and you defend ownership, you don’t defend leases. And we’ll have to defend Greenland.
“We will do it ‘the easy way’ or ‘the hard way’,” he added.

The report says his remarks prompted European reactions, including Denmark warning that an attack on Greenland would mark the end of NATO, and allied military moves this week.
Moscow’s warning
In response, Russian figures have suggested the US plan is linked to missile defence and nuclear posture.
LADbible reports that Dmitry Rogozin, described as a senator for part of occupied Ukraine and a former Russian deputy prime minister, claimed Trump’s ambitions could be tied to placing nuclear strike forces on the island.
Discussing the US desire for a ‘Golden Dome’ missile defence system involving Greenland, Rogozin said: “Orbital sensors, ground interceptors, decision-making algorithms – all this requires advantageous geography.
“Greenland, with its Arctic position, proximity to Russia, and convenience for northern ICBM trajectories, fits perfectly into this architecture.”

‘Strategic stability’ fears
Rogozin said Trump was “fulfilling the Pentagon’s will” and alleged Washington wanted “to seize Greenland by force and turn it into a platform for deploying means of both nuclear attack and missile defence interception”.
He claimed: “This is the dismantling of the entire system of strategic stability in the world that has prevented the use of nuclear weapons since 1945.”
He added: “This will be the beginning of the end of the world,” and argued the Arctic would be the “fastest route” for nuclear warheads between Russia and the US.
