A skier experienced the scare of her life on Friday, January 5th, at Sankt Jakob in Defereggen, a ski resort in the Austrian Tyrol.
As she reached the top of a chairlift, her jacket unfortunately got caught on it. She found herself dangling in mid-air, as reported by the Kleine Zeitung, which published a photo of the skier in this perilous situation.
Caution with Backpack Straps When Exiting Ski Lifts
Thankfully, her misadventure ended well. The ski lift operator quickly intervened and decided to lower the victim down for about a hundred meters until she could be freed. She was not injured and escaped with just a big fright. The operators of the ski area praised the staff’s response.
Such incidents are not rare and can happen at any time. To avoid such situations, always ensure that no backpack straps or parts of clothing can get caught when getting off ski lifts.
