Russian drones targeted energy infrastructure in Ukraine’s Mykolaiv region early on May 12, causing power outages in several communities.

Local officials said emergency crews were already working to restore electricity following the attack.

Energy infrastructure targeted

According to Ukrinform, Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration head Vitalii Kim said Russian forces used Shahed drones in the early morning strike.

The attack reportedly hit energy infrastructure facilities across the region.

Power outages were recorded in multiple settlements after the strike.

Restoration work begins

Kim said no casualties were reported following the attack.

Repair crews were dispatched shortly after the strike as authorities worked to restore electricity supplies.

The full scale of the infrastructure damage was not immediately clear.

Drone attacks continue

Russian drone strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure have remained a recurring tactic throughout the war.

Officials have repeatedly warned that attacks on power systems increase pressure on civilians and complicate recovery efforts in affected regions.

Earlier reports from local authorities said three people were injured in Mykolaiv Oblast during a separate Russian drone attack on May 10.

Pressure on infrastructure grows

Ukraine’s energy system has faced repeated waves of drone and missile attacks since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Regional officials continue urging residents to prepare for possible disruptions as repair teams work to stabilize damaged infrastructure.
