Donald Trump has addressed growing speculation about whether his youngest son, Barron Trump, could one day enter politics.
During a recent interview, the President was asked directly about Barron’s future and whether he could eventually follow the Trump family into public life.
While Trump avoided making any firm prediction, he notably did not dismiss the idea either.
Trump responds to question during TV interview
The conversation took place during Trump’s May 10 appearance on Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson.
Host Sharyl Attkisson asked the President if he could see Barron eventually pursuing a political career of his own.
Trump responded cautiously but positively, praising his son while leaving the possibility open.
“Well, maybe, he’s certainly a popular guy,” Trump said.
Trump praises all of his children
During the same answer, Trump broadened the conversation to include the rest of his family.
“I have a lot of members of my family that are very popular, you know? I have good kids, they are very good kids,” he added.
Rather than focusing only on Barron, Trump emphasized that all of his children have earned public attention and support over the years.
Still, his comments immediately fueled more curiosity about Barron specifically.
Barron has kept a lower public profile
Unlike Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump, Barron has mostly stayed away from public political life.
For much of his childhood and teenage years, Melania Trump worked to keep him out of the political spotlight.
That approach helped Barron maintain a more private upbringing despite constant media attention surrounding his father.
However, recent comments from both parents suggest he has become more involved behind the scenes.
Melania Trump highlighted Barron’s political interest
Earlier this year, Melania Trump spoke openly about her son’s awareness of politics and current events.
During a January appearance on Fox News’ The Five, the First Lady praised Barron’s maturity and understanding.
“I’m proud of him, and he’s an incredible young man. He understands. Now, he’s involved. He knows what’s going on in the world,” Melania said.
She also noted that Barron regularly speaks with both of his parents about politics.
Barron reportedly advised Trump during campaign
Melania revealed that Barron played an important role during Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.
According to her, he helped shape parts of the campaign’s digital outreach strategy.
“He gave him all of the ideas, whom he needs to talk to, including all of these YouTubers and podcasts,” she explained.
The comments suggested Barron understood how younger audiences consume political content online.
Melania calls Barron a “smart mind”
The First Lady went even further when discussing her son’s campaign involvement.
“So, he was really a smart mind behind it,” she said.
Her remarks painted Barron as someone capable of contributing thoughtful ideas despite remaining mostly out of public view.
That description added to growing speculation that he may eventually become more active politically himself.
Donald Trump previously shared similar stories
Donald Trump has also spoken before about Barron’s interest in politics.
In a 2024 interview with Kayal & Company, Trump described Barron as highly engaged and eager to offer advice.
“He’s really been a great student. And he does like politics,” Trump said.
The President even shared that Barron occasionally tells him what strategy he should follow.
Barron sometimes gives his father advice
Trump recalled moments when Barron would directly weigh in on political decisions and messaging.
“He’ll tell me sometimes, ‘Dad, this is what you have to do,’” Trump said.
Although the comments were made jokingly, they reinforced the idea that Barron closely follows political developments.
For supporters, the remarks hinted that he may already possess strong political instincts.
Barron is currently attending New York University
For now, Barron’s main focus appears to be education.
He is currently studying at New York University’s Stern School of Business, a prestigious business program in Manhattan.

Alongside his studies, Barron has reportedly started building professional experience.
