A new conflict has been started.
Fresh disagreement between Washington and Jerusalem appears to be emerging as diplomatic efforts surrounding Iran intensify behind closed doors.
American and Israeli officials have reportedly clashed in recent days over how to handle ongoing negotiations with Tehran, according to reports published Wednesday by Axios, tv3.it and The Wall Street Journal. Sources cited by both outlets described rising frustration between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during discussions tied to a possible new framework aimed at easing the regional conflict.
Netanyahu reportedly frustrated after call
Axios reported that tensions escalated after Trump and Netanyahu discussed a revised proposal connected to the Iran dispute.
One source told the outlet that Netanyahu became “very agitated” following Tuesday’s conversation with the American president.
Another source reportedly described the Israeli leader as being “on burning coals” after the exchange, suggesting deep dissatisfaction with the direction of the talks.
Diplomatic efforts led by Qatar and Pakistan, alongside several additional partners, are said to have produced a renewed peace initiative designed to reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Trump pushes pause on military action
Trump has repeatedly warned Iran in recent weeks while simultaneously signaling that negotiations remain active.
According to the reports, the president said he is prepared to delay another military strike because discussions currently underway represent a positive development.
Sources cited by the media outlets also claimed Trump expressed confidence regarding Netanyahu’s position.
“He will do whatever I want,” Trump reportedly said about the Israeli prime minister.
Israeli concerns remain
Despite the renewed diplomatic activity, Netanyahu reportedly remains deeply skeptical about the negotiations and continues supporting a tougher military approach toward Iran.
Reports indicate that Israeli officials favor resuming military operations launched jointly at the end of February with the stated objective of further weakening Iranian military capabilities.
Differences between Washington and Jerusalem over Iran policy have surfaced publicly before, though recent reports suggest frustrations may now be growing more direct behind the scenes as negotiations continue.
