Experts question the POTUS’ lastest report.
Fresh scrutiny surrounding Donald Trump’s health has emerged ahead of the US president’s annual medical examination on Tuesday, with several physicians challenging explanations previously provided by the White House.
Recent public appearances have repeatedly shown visible bruising on Trump’s hands alongside swelling around his lower legs. White House officials have attributed the marks to the president’s daily aspirin use and frequent handshakes during public events.
Cardiologist Jonathan Reiner is not convinced by that explanation.
“That explanation doesn’t make much sense to me,” he told The Washington Post.
Reiner noted that Trump would likely reduce his aspirin intake if the medication were causing the bruising. He also pointed out that marks have appeared on the president’s left hand, despite Trump primarily shaking hands with his right.
Former White House Doctor Questions Transparency
Scepticism is not limited to outside observers.
Jeffrey Kuhlman, who previously served as physician to presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama, also questioned how much information the public should expect from the upcoming examination.
Kuhlman told The Washington Post that his expectations for transparency regarding presidential health are extremely low.
Former administrations and White House medical teams, he argued, have spent years marked by “delusions, deception, denial or delays.”
Debate surrounding presidential health disclosures has intensified in recent years as both political parties have faced questions about the age and physical condition of senior candidates.
Poll Shows Concerns Among Voters
Public doubts appear to extend beyond the medical community.
New polling conducted by Ipsos for The Washington Post found that 41 percent of Americans believe Trump remains physically fit enough to effectively serve as president.
Trump became the oldest person ever sworn in as president of the United States following his return to office.
President Trump has repeatedly dismissed concerns surrounding his condition and has pointed to his performance in cognitive testing as evidence that he remains capable of handling the demands of office.
