The POTUS is attacked from both sides after his latest comment.

Political reactions erupted across social media on Monday after Donald Trump used part of his Memorial Day messaging to attack Democrats in a series of posts published early in the morning.

Memorial Day in the United States is traditionally dedicated to honouring military personnel who died during service. Critics accused the president of shifting attention away from that purpose by injecting partisan rhetoric into the national observance.

Trump began posting on Truth Social shortly after 6 a.m.

“Happy Memorial Day to all, including the Dumocrats, who disrespect our Military and all of the tremendous success that it has had over the last year,” Trump wrote.

“God Bless those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. I love you all!”

Social Media Reactions Intensify

Another message followed soon after, where Trump continued his criticism of Democrats.

“The Dumocrats have BAD POLICY, AND BAD CANDIDATES. Other than that, they are doing quite well!” he wrote.

Responses online quickly turned heated, according to Unilad.

“Memorial Day should be about honouring fallen heroes and uniting the nation, not reigniting political divisions or insults,” one user wrote, according to UNILAD.

Another commenter questioned Trump’s remarks in relation to military personnel aligned with the Democratic Party.

“Does he not realize that there are military folk who are Democrats?? It is HE who is disrespecting the military by being a s**** commander in chief,” the user wrote.

Political criticism also came from conservative voices.

“That’s horrible. I am republican. I apologize to the many Democrats who are in our military and leadership. This is why we are divided as a nation today. MAGA or not these comments should not be normalized coming from the president of America,” another commenter wrote.

Arlington Appearance Followed by Fresh Criticism

Trump later attended a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery as part of official Memorial Day commemorations.

Public criticism nevertheless continued after the event, including from veterans’ groups.

Naveed Shah, an Iraq War veteran and head of the advocacy organisation Common Defense, sharply criticised the president during comments to the Daily Beast.

“Trump has demonstrated over and over again that he hates the troops,” Shah said.

“From calling the troops who died in WWI ‘suckers and losers,’ to mocking John McCain’s 5 years as a POW, to attacking the Gold Star Khan family, all the way back to 2016 when he lied about donating to Veterans groups.”

“He has never missed a chance to dishonor the people he was never brave enough to stand beside.”

Debate surrounding Trump’s relationship with the military has resurfaced repeatedly throughout his political career, particularly during national commemorations tied to veterans and fallen service members.
