Dmitry Medvedev has published an AI-generated video threatening Western leaders and warning that incidents involving drones in Europe could continue.
Former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev has released an AI-generated video featuring European leaders appearing frightened as he repeated threats directed at Western countries.
The video was published shortly after NATO condemned Russia following the crash of a Russian drone into a residential building in Romania.
AI video warning
According to Digi24, citing ua.news, Medvedev shared an artificial intelligence-generated video on social media showing dramatic images of a missile launch and frightened depictions of European leaders.
The clip features French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
In the video, Medvedev reads a statement he had published the previous day.
The former Russian president currently serves as deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council.
Threats to Europe
According to Digi24, Medvedev warned that incidents involving drones could continue to affect European countries.
“Be prepared: such incidents will continue to happen,” he said.
“This is war. And citizens of EU states, like the population of countries in conflict, will not be able to sleep peacefully.”
The remarks followed reports that a Russian drone crashed into a residential building in the Romanian city of Galați during an attack on Ukraine.
NATO response
NATO condemned the incident and reiterated its commitment to defending member states.
According to Digi24, alliance officials accused Moscow of irresponsible behaviour and pledged to protect “every inch” of NATO territory.
Medvedev argued that responsibility for the drone incident should first be established.
He also accused European leaders of being directly involved in the conflict and dismissed criticism coming from Western governments.
Escalating rhetoric
The latest comments are part of a series of increasingly aggressive statements from Medvedev directed at Europe and the United States.
According to Digi24, he recently warned that Russia must guarantee its own security because of what he described as European hostility.
He has also previously threatened Europe with a “great slaughter” and criticised US President Donald Trump over remarks concerning relations between Moscow and Washington.
The statements underline continuing tensions between Russia and Western governments as the war in Ukraine continues.
