Graphic video: Russian soldier subjected to brutal punishment

A graphic video allegedly shows a Russian soldier hanging upside down from a tree while being beaten by a superior officer, raising fresh concerns about abuse within the Russian military.

A new graphic video from a Telegram channel is currently spreading across social media. The footage shows a Russian soldier being subjected to severe mistreatment.

Specifically, the video shows a soldier hanging upside down from a tree, wrapped in plastic film, while being beaten by his superior officer.

Other soldiers can be seen watching the incident.

The authenticity of the footage has not yet been independently verified. At the same time, there is no information about what may have triggered the punishment, according to the Daily Mail.

Expert Points to a Cultural Problem

This is far from the first video to raise questions about discipline and internal conditions within the military.

Military analyst Keir Giles believes incidents like this reflect serious challenges within the Russian armed forces. He argues that violence and abuse of power—particularly against younger soldiers—have become commonplace.

Although Russian authorities have previously stated that they are working to limit such incidents, Giles maintains that these abuses continue to occur repeatedly.

Whether the latest footage will prompt a response from Russian authorities remains unclear, Daily Mail reports.

Russia Suffers Heavy Human Losses

The case comes at a time when the war in Ukraine has lasted for more than four years and has resulted in significant human losses.

Recently, GCHQ Director Anne Keast-Butler stated that assessments indicate nearly half a million Russian soldiers may have been killed since the beginning of the war, Daily mail reports.

We have previously reported on this issue, highlighting how high the death toll has become during the conflict, while noting that many of the deceased soldiers have still not been identified.

Recent figures also indicate that Russia is currently losing approximately 35,000 soldiers per month.
