According to reporting by LA.LV, journalist Ivan Yakovina believes Vladimir Putin is more concerned about aging and longevity than any geopolitical issue.
Questions about Vladimir Putin’s health and longevity have become a recurring topic among critics of the Kremlin leader, with one political commentator arguing that aging is the issue that concerns him more than any geopolitical conflict.
The remarks came in response to Putin’s reaction to comments made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Sensitive subject
According to LA.LV, journalist and political commentator Ivan Yakovina said Putin appeared particularly irritated by references to his age in a recent message from Zelensky.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Yakovina argued that the Russian leader focused on the age-related remark before addressing broader issues of war and diplomacy.
“This letter has obviously deeply offended Putin. Putin began commenting on its content not with questions of war and peace, but with the fact that Zelensky mentioned his venerable age,” Yakovina said.
He added that aging appears to be an especially sensitive topic for the Russian president.
Focus on longevity
According to LA.LV, Yakovina claimed that concerns about health and longevity occupy a central place in Putin’s life.
“For Putin, the topic of physical aging is extremely painful. Age is the only thing he can’t cope with, and he worries a lot about this topic,” the commentator said.
“I think that even the occupation of Ukraine is in second place for Putin,” he added.
Appearance and health
Yakovina also alleged that Putin devotes significant attention and resources to maintaining his appearance.
According to the commentator, cosmetic procedures are reportedly available at the Russian leader’s residences.
“Putin would really like to be and look young. There is a cosmetology office in each of his residences. There he regularly undergoes Botox injections, blepharoplasty, hyaluronic acid injections, and so on,” Yakovina claimed.
He further referenced longstanding reports and speculation regarding Putin’s interest in longevity and alternative health practices.
