Dr YoungHoon Kim, recognized by Guinness World Records as the person with the world’s highest recorded IQ, has publicly declared his support for Donald Trump, sparking a broad debate regarding IQ scores.

A South Korean researcher recognized by Guinness World Records for having the world’s highest recorded IQ has publicly expressed support for US President Donald Trump, prompting a wave of reactions on social media.

The endorsement quickly drew both praise and criticism, with some users questioning whether intelligence test scores should carry weight in political debates.

Public endorsement

According to The Daily Express, Dr YoungHoon Kim, who holds a Guinness World Record for an IQ score of 276, shared his views on X amid ongoing discussions about Trump’s foreign policy and leadership.

Writing “as the world’s highest IQ record holder,” Kim stated: “I stand with President Donald Trump.”

The post attracted significant attention online and generated discussion among both supporters and critics of the US president.

Social media reaction

According to The Daily Express, Barron Trump responded to Kim’s post by thanking him for his support and describing him as a “genius.”

Kim replied with a heart emoji, further fueling online discussion.

However, not everyone was convinced by the endorsement. Some social media users argued that IQ scores do not necessarily translate into political judgment, leadership ability or moral reasoning.

Intelligence debate

Several critics highlighted the distinction between measured intelligence and other personal qualities.

“Nothing on an IQ test measures compassion, humility or military strategy,” one user wrote.

Another questioned how someone with such a high IQ could support Trump, whose presidency remains highly divisive.

The debate soon expanded beyond politics and into broader questions about how intelligence should be measured.

More than IQ

According to The Daily Express, researchers from institutions including Yale University have previously argued that IQ tests assess only certain aspects of intelligence.

Psychologist Keith Stanovich, a professor at the University of Toronto, has noted that such tests are effective at measuring logical reasoning and problem-solving skills but do not fully capture critical thinking or decision-making abilities.

David Perkins of Harvard Graduate School of Education offered a similar view, saying: “A high IQ is like height in a basketball player. It is very important, all other things being equal. But all other things aren’t equal. There’s a lot more to being a good basketball player than being tall, and there’s a lot more to being a good thinker than having a high IQ.”
