Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed strong skepticism towards Donald Trump’s recent claims that he could resolve the Ukraine crisis “in 24 hours.”

In a CNN interview, Zelensky challenged the former U.S. President to publicly share his ideas for ending the conflict, if he indeed has any viable solutions.

Trump has been vocal about his ability to quickly negotiate an end to the ongoing war in Ukraine, although he has not provided any concrete steps for how he would achieve this.

He has merely stated that he would “get them in a room” and “say certain things to Putin” and “say certain things to Zelensky.”

Zelensky’s rebuttal

A visibly frustrated Zelensky responded by urging Trump to be transparent about his supposed peace formula.

“If he’s got some smart ideas, he can share them with us, of course,” Zelensky said. He emphasized that any plan that involves ceding Ukrainian territory to Russia is not a peace formula at all.

When asked if Ukraine was willing to give up territory, Zelensky switched to English and posed a counter-question:

“Is the United States ready to give up territory after Putin has said he would use nuclear weapons?” He warned that appeasing Putin would only encourage further aggression and lead to more demands from the Russian leader.
