When you watch a conflict from thousands of miles away, the picture can get a little distorted.
Some political commentators living safely in the West paint a glowing portrait of a triumphant nation.
But the people actually living inside the borders are telling a very different story.
The overseas cheerleaders
According to United24Media, several foreign broadcasters and internet personalities continue to insist that Russia is crushing its enemies and thriving economically.
Former American weapons inspector Scott Ritter recently claimed the conflict is “stable and in favor of Russia”. Right-wing presenter Tucker Carlson echoed that confidence, laughing and telling audiences, “You guys are going to beat Russia? Good luck.”
British agitator Tommy Robinson even visited the country to admire the “beauty of a civilised society”.
These voices completely ignore the daily reality of drone strikes, rising taxes, and severe labor shortages.
Cracks in the screen
If you tune into domestic Russian state television, the triumphant tone quickly fades.
News agencies like TASS routinely report on major fuel shortages and a massive lack of IT workers.
The government is no longer hiding the damage caused by Ukrainian attacks. According to U24 Media, a Russian deputy prime minister bluntly stated, “We have to admit there are problems and a shortage due to the strikes”.
Business leaders are panicking too, with executive Robert Nigmatulin publicly asking, “You can’t run an economy this way”.
Sleeping in the hallway
Even the most loyal Kremlin mouthpieces are losing their patience on live television.
Margarita Simonyan, the head of Russia Today, recently complained that her family is “sleeping in corridors” to hide from incoming drones.
Her colleague Vladimir Solovyov angrily snapped at a lifestyle influencer for ignoring the crisis. He reminded her, “Vic, we have a war going on.”
Solovyov even admitted on air that the entire invasion was a “giant mistake”.
Hardliners predict doom

Jailed nationalist Igor Strelkov posted that the military simply cannot stop incoming missiles. He warned his followers that “the situation will only get worse” as attacks increase.
Western fans might still cheer for a flawless victory, but the loudest voices in Moscow are already bracing for impact.
