The president’s latest public appearance prompted a fresh wave of online commentary. Earlier footage from a separate trip had already put his appearance and movements under scrutiny.

Donald Trump’s hair became an unexpected sideshow during a Las Vegas appearance this week, when the US president attended an event promoting his administration’s push for further tax cuts.

The Irish Star highlighted several social media posts commenting on what appeared to be a noticeably fuller hairstyle than Trump had displayed at other recent events.

One user joked: “Either a chinchilla landed on Trump’s head or he’s workshopping a toupee to see if anyone will notice.”

Others made similar remarks about the apparent extra volume, extending a round of online mockery that had begun after a very different appearance only days before.

Earlier footage fuels the jokes

The Daily Express reported on footage showing Trump returning from New Jersey and stepping down from Marine One before continuing toward Air Force One.

The president, 80, was seen holding both handrails as he descended. Near the bottom of the stairs, a gust lifted his familiar comb-over and briefly revealed more of his scalp.

The footage soon circulated widely online. CALL TO ACTIVISM shared the clip on X with the comment: “Holy s—. Trump’s entire head of hair nearly walked off his head with the wind.”

Other critics responded with jokes about the hairstyle, while The Daily Express reported that some users adopted the nickname “Hair Force One.”

The Las Vegas appearance therefore arrived after several days in which Trump’s hair had become a subject of social media commentary, giving users another visual contrast to discuss.

Leg movement also examined

The earlier airport footage generated a separate line of speculation after Trump appeared to pat or slap his right leg while walking across the tarmac.

Both outlets noted that similar movements have been seen before. Some social media users questioned whether the gesture had any connection to Trump’s health, although The Daily Express stated that there is no evidence linking it to a medical condition.

Body language expert Judi James has previously suggested a less dramatic explanation. She described the repeated movement as a possible concentration ritual used before navigating aircraft stairs.

“The slapping gesture could actually be a form of reminder or self-motivational ritual from Trump to himself to get into this state of temporary concentration needed to take the stairs well,” she said.

James also suggested that aircraft steps can become more challenging with age, particularly for someone whose instinct in public appearances may otherwise be to wave or interact with spectators.

“Why is he always slapping his leg? To remind it to keep moving?” was the more satirical explanation from a user on X.
