In modern politics, a single social media message can shift global financial markets in seconds.

When private access to crucial public announcements comes with a massive price tag, basic fairness quickly becomes a burning debate. Now, a controversial digital service has sparked a fierce constitutional legal battle over who gets the news first, reports Dr News.

Paying for priority

Donald Trump faces a fresh legal battle. Two media outlets have sued the US president over a new service that sells early access to his social media posts. The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation filed the joint lawsuit, as reported by the BBC.

They argue that selling early access to official statements violates constitutional rights to equal information access. The dispute targets Truth API. Launched earlier this month by Trump Media and Technology Group, the corporate feature carries a steep price tag.

Clients pay up to $100,000 every month to preview posts from ten high profile Truth Social accounts before the public sees them. Trump’s personal account is among the accounts included in the costly package. Wall Street watchers note that the president’s online comments often trigger swift moves in stock prices. Because those posts move markets, financial critics have slammed the exclusive subscription as a form of market manipulation.

Battle over access

The business leadership behind the platform firmly rejects the accusations raised in court. Trump Media and Technology Group insisted left wing activists filed the lawsuit to censor the president, according to the BBC.

Company leaders frame the feature as a standard commercial strategy designed to expand corporate revenue. In a press release, interim CEO Kevin McGurn highlighted the tool’s long term financial promise for investors.

“With increasing adoption, Truth API is expected to develop into a stable and significant revenue stream that can strengthen the company’s long-term value for shareholders,” McGurn said.

Corporate filings show that Trump retains a 41 percent ownership stake in Trump Media and Technology Group. That huge personal holding means any added profits generated by the expensive service directly boost his private wealth.
