Their relationship has been described as very strange.
Life in the public eye comes with an unwritten set of rules.
When one half of a famous couple steps back from the cameras, people naturally start to talk.
Behind closed doors in Washington, that quiet absence is now causing real nerves.
Rarely seen together
First Lady Melania Trump has sparked fresh worry among White House aides by skipping public events alongside her husband, President Donald Trump, the Irish Star reported. After she missed much of the 2024 campaign trail and his court dates, the pair have barely been seen side by side this year.
Journalist Joanna Coles and author Michael Wolff recently unpacked her “vanishing act” on the Inside Trump’s Head podcast. Aside from a summer outing at the World Cup final, her schedule has looked very different from past women in the role.
“We really have seen almost nothing of the First Lady this year, which is why it was a surprise to see her,” Coles said on the podcast, according to the Irish Star.
“What is she doing the rest of the time? I do have questions about her because it’s very odd that she’s missing, and she is particularly elegant,” Coles continued. “So I always like to know what she’s wearing when she shows up. What is she doing? What is she doing with all her time?”
Stealing the spotlight
On the same show, Wolff called the couple’s relationship the “strangest marriage in the history of all presidential marriages” and noted that staffers are nervous about her next move. “They don’t know what she’s going to do, and they are afraid of it,” he claimed, as cited by the Irish Star.
“Even more disturbing to the White House is that this business of hers seems to make her the center of attention, which puts her kind of in direct conflict with the President of the United States, who, as we know, can’t stand anyone else being the center of attention,” Wolff added. “Doesn’t mind you making money, but do not steal the limelight.”
While staying out of politics, the First Lady has built a massive solo business empire, the Irish Star reported.
Earlier reports showed she brought in more than $17.2 million through her self-titled documentary with Amazon MGM Studios, book sales, and digital collectibles known as non-fungible tokens. Along with launching her own film production company, she also runs skincare and jewelry lines.
