Donald Trump manages to avoid another viral embarrassment while handing out candy at the White House.

Halloween at the White House is usually an opportunity for American presidents to take a break from politics and welcome children dressed in costumes for an evening of candy and entertainment.

For Donald Trump, however, the annual celebration has previously produced some rather unusual moments.

The president has attracted attention for his unconventional approach to handing out sweets, with videos of his Halloween encounters going viral.

But during Thursday’s celebration, Trump finally appeared to have mastered the traditional trick-or-treat routine.

Trump avoids repeating his infamous mistake

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed children to the White House for approximately an hour, distributing candy to young visitors.

Unlike previous years, the president placed the sweets directly into their bags.

The detail might seem insignificant, but Trump’s Halloween history tells a different story.

During his first presidency in 2019, a child wearing an inflatable Minion costume approached the couple for candy.

Instead of putting a chocolate bar into the child’s bag, Trump placed it on top of the costume’s head.

The moment quickly went viral.

Last Halloween, Trump repeated a similar mistake by balancing candy on a child’s illuminated mask.

Fortunately for this year’s trick-or-treaters, the president avoided another awkward encounter.

Trump receives a visit from his younger lookalike

The White House was decorated with pumpkins and autumn leaves, while children arrived wearing costumes inspired by popular movies, historical figures and public servants.

Although no Minions appeared this year, several children dressed as bananas, the animated characters’ favorite snack.

Other visitors wore costumes inspired by Toy Story, Winnie the Pooh, Barbie and various dinosaurs.

Some children dressed as police officers, soldiers and Secret Service agents.

One teenager, however, attracted particular attention by dressing as Trump himself.

The youngster wore a red Make America Great Again cap, a white shirt featuring the number 47 and pajama pants displaying the words “MAGA for life.”

He also posed for a photograph with the president and Melania.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller attended with their families.

Meanwhile, the Air Force Strolling Strings performed Halloween music, including the theme from Ghostbusters and Time Warp from The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
