Other people say he still came as a monster.

Getting dressed for a costume party can feel like a full-time job.

While some people spend weeks planning elaborate outfits, others grab whatever is clean in the closet five minutes before walking out the door.

This weekend, one high-profile host took the lazy route and paid for it online.

Ten minutes to spare

With the November 3 midterm elections right around the corner, Donald Trump has been racing between campaign stops and late-night planning sessions.

According to the Irish Star, the busy schedule left the 80-year-old president with zero time to shop for Halloween gear before a party at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

Even though the bash was reportedly “jungle-themed”, Trump walked into the room wearing his usual dark suit and bright red tie. He skipped the masks and fake blood entirely, sticking with his familiar swept hair and orange tan.

Pointing to his everyday clothes, the president explained why he ditched the dress code. “I came as Donald Trump. I didn’t have time to get ready,” he told guests at the Florida club, as quoted by the Irish Star.

Back to work

He also took a swipe at wealthy partygoers who spend all day in the mirror. “People spend a lot of time and money, rich people, they’ll spend nine hours getting ready. I had 10 minutes, so I came as Donald Trump tonight,” he said, according to the outlet.

The visit was just a quick pit stop. Speaking to reporters at the event, Trump promised he would not stay long: “I’ll have about 15 minutes of Halloween, then I go back to work!”

Critics on social media wasted no time turning his ten-minute outfit into a punchline. On X, users quoted by the Irish Star joked that his daily look was already “scary enough” for October 31.

Roasting on X

“That’s scary enough,” one person posted on the platform, while another user wrote: “He came as a monster”.

Others focused on his decision to dress up as himself. According to the Irish Star, a third critic complained that “The ego on this man is outrageous”, and a fourth person chimed in: “There is no one more creepy than Donald Trump”.

Earlier in the week, the president spent a longer stretch celebrating the holiday in Washington. Alongside First Lady Melania Trump, he handed out candy to children on the South Lawn of the White House on October 29.

The Irish Star reported that the pair greeted young trick-or-treaters dressed as ghosts, colonial Founding Fathers in white wigs, and even tiny versions of the president himself.
