Since the debut of the tank during World War I in 1916., when British Mark I tanks rumbled over the trenches of the Western Front, these armored war machines have played a central role on the battlefield.
Back then, they were slow, unreliable, and intimidating more because of their sheer presence than their technical capabilities.
But over the next hundred years, the tank underwent a remarkable transformation:
First during World War II, when the T-34, the Tiger, and the Sherman set new standards for firepower and mobility.
Then throughout the Cold War, as composite armor and explosive reactive plating became the norm.
And today, we stand in an era of high-tech main battle tanks equipped with autoloaders, networked warfare systems, active protection measures, and even AI-assisted targeting.
